At the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, a huge variety of outdoor activities and stunning sights await. On the 14-mile scenic drive through the park, a number of pullouts and signs help emphasize the most stunning sights and natural formations of the park. This road also provides access to miles of hiking trails, from the 1.1-mile loop Little Mo Nature Trail featuring .7 miles of wheelchair accessible paths to the 16-mile Achenbach Trail that requires climbing and a river crossing. Backcountry camping allows a multi-day adventure for avid hikers, while the Little Missouri River is popular for canoeing and kayaking adventures through the area badlands. Located about 15 miles south of Watford City and 60 miles north of the South Unit, this portion of the park is less frequently visited than its southern neighbor. For more information on the other units of the national park, the South Unit and the Elkhorn Site, visit their individual park pages offered on this site.
Open daily year round.
Entry fee (7 day pass): Vehicles $10; Individuals $5.
